Blessed

We blessed Georgia on Sunday. It was such a great day. I love the special day that we get to have with friends and family celebrating what a blessing it is to have Georgia in our family. There were so many people that came for the church meeting and a lot of them came over to our house afterwards for lunch. It was a nice relaxed day. Georgia was in a great mood, but then again, she almost always is.

I was going to make her dress but I was digging through the clearance rack at Target one day and found this little white tulle dress. The smallest size they had was 24 month but that turned out to be perfect with all of the alterations I made to it.

I cut off the white straps and took in the side seams a few inches. Then I added the pink straps and tulle cap sleeves, the ruffled pink waistline and the rosettes. And of course she needed a headband to match. It turned out just how I had pictured it in my head so that was a huge bonus. :)

Georgia met Great-Grandma McMillan. She is my grandma on my mom's side. It was nice to get a visit with her. We don't see our extended family often enough.

We got a photo of the four generations since we were all together. Georgia and me in the middle, my mom on the left and my grandma on the right.

It was the perfect day. At the end of the day I sat feeling blissful and content. I am so incredibly blessed to have the family and friends that I have and especially that I get to be sweet Georgia's mom.

Great weekend

I had a great weekend. It was relaxed and low key and spent with people I love. I couldn't ask for anything better from a weekend. On Saturday I spent the day with Thayne, Kassidy and Max. We had lunch at The Rusted Sun Pizzeria (My all time favorite pizza place). Then we went out shopping. Kassidy is in search of a purse, we went to 4 or 5 stores but couldn't find one that she liked that was less than $70 and you would have to be insane to spend $70 on a purse for a 13 year old... or even for me for that matter. So after a day full of shopping we went home empty handed but it was still a great day.

Sunday after church we had my family over for dinner. Everyone except the 2 oldest of my siblings and my dad. (They all live out of town) My grandma even came. My brother from Monticello was in town with his adorable little family and their new baby Gabe. That was mostly why we got together. Everyone has been dying to meet Gabe. And my oh my is he a perfect little man. I shouldn't be surprised. They have the most perfect girls that there are. I adore Lily and Marah and now Gabe too. :) I held him most of the time. I was a serious baby hog but oh well. When they had to leave I didn't want to let him go. I could keep him forever and be happy with it. I'm not sure how happy Max would be with it though. He was having a little bit of a meltdown when he first saw me holding Gabe. Suddenly he wanted me to hold him too and that's a very rare occurance. :) It was cute. And he did get used to it. It was a really fun night and I loved spending some good time visiting with my family.

P.S. Sorry for the lack of pictures... I need a new camera :(

Homecoming Dances

‘Tis the season for high school homecoming. We participated in 2 homecoming festivities this year. The fist one was for Kaitlyn, my niece that I adore. She’s a senior this year and has never really had a formal dance experience. I was going to update an old dress that she inherited from someone but as I started getting into it I realized that it would probably be easier and faster if I just made a new dress from scratch but I didn’t have time for that either. So, on the morning of the dance I picked her up from her dad’s and took her to Modest by Design. Some of my dearest friends own it and I even worked for them way back when they were selling their stuff out of their garage. We found her a dress that she loved and got a killer deal on it. Next we had to go shoe shopping and we also bought a dress shirt for her bf to wear that matched her dress. She went on the day date and then came back to my house so I could do her hair and make-up and get her dress on her. She looked gorgeous and it was so fun to be able to help make it an amazing experience for her.

The second homecoming dance was Tristyn’s. She was nominated for Homecoming Queen. They held the pageant on the saturday before the dance. There were 18 girls competing. It was a lot of fun watching Tristyn bring her pageant skills out on stage. That night the judges chose the 6 finalists and then they had another pageant for the student body and they got to do the final voting. Tristyn didn’t get the title of queen but she was a part of the royalty and got a killer tiara. :) Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a good photo of her with her tiara but I will keep searching and post it as soon as I find it!

Ignore the fact that Thayne and I both look goofy in this one... Tristyn looks great and that's the most important thing!

Hospitals give me the creeps

A couple weeks ago my mom fell and broke her hip. I sat with her for about 7 hours on a friday night as they x-rayed and decided the best course of action. They admitted her and scheduled surgery for the next day. She was having a really hard time with all of it. Between the pain and lack of sleep her dimensia was worse than normal. We couldn’t leave her alone so us kids had to take shifts sitting with her. I spent most of the following week at the hospital with her. She had surgery and has since been released from the hospital so now we’re just getting her rehabbed so she can be mobile again. Being at the hospital stresses me out. I really hate it. I got a nasty cold and I totally blame it on being at the hospital. The first night that I was there my brother sam came and hung out for awhile too. I was freezing and I said “Why do hospitals always have to be so cold” his response was encouraging... “to preserve the bodies”.

FAMILY PHOTOS JULY 2010

In July wee spent some time in Monticello with my brother Sam, his wife Roxy and their cute little family. Roxy has picked up photography and she is amazing. She took some time one morning to take new family photos for us. There were so many amazing ones that I couldn't post all of them here but I tried to narrow it down to our top favorites.
